I would like to have photos, but don't and I apologize.  There will be some soon - all the loverly spinning I've been doing should be shared ;)

Betwixt the hurricane winds, no power for days and being driven from the house (thankfully, though) by roofers, my mind is still a bit muddled.

I am excited about Southern Indiana FiberArts Festival in 2 weeks!!  Wait, 2 weeks, I still have so much to do, argh...  For those of you few folks who are not aware, I am president of Fiber eXchange Guild who presents SIFAF each year.  We have a good group and everyone does something wonderful and important.  There are some things I have a hard time delegating, but as our wee event has grown so much, for next year we'll have even more folks doing important things!

If you are within driving distance - or need a fiber adventure of your own - come see us on Saturday, October 18 from 9-5 at the fairgrounds in Corydon, IN.  See the website at http://www.SouthernIndianaFiberArts.com

see you there ;)

First project was done Saturday afternoon.  A neckwarmer in a nice cable and row pattern.  Tudora by Cheryl Marling from Knitty.com, Winter 2007.  I chose Cascade 220 Superwash in Marigold from my stash (purchased loooong ago at Grinny Possum) and an antique wood button.

I cast off a second item today, but no pic yet, so I'll save that ...

weep not

I also completed a handspun that isn't really in competition, but fun anyway!  Weep not is named for the Picto Create challenge for which it was spun "Sad Clown".  The large faceted plastic orbs are on a cotton twine which was used as the core.  Around the core I spun white wool with blue locks.  A thinner single of white was added as a second ply.  Only about 12 yards, but what fluffy funky yards they are!

HA!  Posting 2 days in a row!  woohoo!

Two knitting projects have been started, but I'll save pics for later.  1.) First new cast on: sockmark book mark, will be a gift and is being knit from reclaimed yarn (gray wool with silver and blue cotton).  And b.) Second new cast on: Tudora Neck Warmer in a lovely golden cascade wool.

Now for the fun!  More on 1-3-5 Swap:  Elements were received from SparklingScraps.  1 image: [http://faeriefae.50megs.com/cgi-bin/i/the_goblins_market_margaret_tarrant.jpg][2]   3 words: bejeweled, regal, enchantress   5 elements:
1. striped roving and matching locks
2. fabric from brides maid dress
3. beads: glass black iridescent and wood multicolor
4. minis: pom poms and flowers
5. multicolored thread
collectedglass beadsfluffswood beads

Note bride's maid dress scraps are now strips.  Multicolor thread was wound onto Tinkertoy bobbin then threaded with ab black glass bicone beads.  Pompoms are threaded with fluff (angora, alpaca and silk blend) with a needle - the fluff will be spun in on either side.  Two sizes of multicolor wood beads are strung onto gold cord.  I am still trying to decide if I will add fiber and if so, what kind, how much, what color to dye, etc.

Not that any of you have been swamping me with emails wanting to know where I am ... but I have been neglectful lately.  Some pretty pics to make you smile!

Below is pictured what I received from an elements swap within the Novelty and Art Yarn Group on Ravelry.com.  I wanted to share the bits with you and let you ponder them.  In a couple days (promise), I will be sharing more about the swap and what will become of all these things.

Next is suit spun for Fiber Friday Group also on Ravelry.  Wool suit jacket pieces with natural dark brown wool, plum wool and plied with gray thread.  Spun during Clark County Fair Spinning Demonstration with Grinny Possum.  I wanted to spin something unusual and different from what everyone else would be spinning that night ;)

Lastly, spicey also for Fiber Friday.  Red wools and alpaca with bits of orange and whiter spots plied with gold cord.  I know the picture is a little fuzzed, but I like the loopys ;)

Tomorrow is the beginning of the International Olympics and also the start of something called Ravelympics.  In Ravelry-land teams were formed and competitions chosen.

The short version: I am on Team Indiana competing in Handspun Heptathalon, Cowl Jump, WIP (work in project) Wrestling and Holiday Handball.

The long version: Look here for regular updates.  No, really, I will do my best to share the fun ;)
